Since graduation, I have spent more than two decades working in the new-home construction and residential remodeling industries. Over the years, I have gained hands-on experience with a wide variety of projects, from framing and structural work to interior renovations, finish carpentry, repairs, and complete home-improvement projects. Each job has reinforced how important proper planning, accurate measurements, suitable materials, and the correct order of operations are to a successful result.
In 2012, I took the next step in my career and launched my own home-remodeling and general-contracting company. Running my own business expanded my experience beyond the physical work itself. It required me to meet with homeowners, understand their goals, explain available options, prepare project plans, coordinate materials and schedules, solve unexpected problems, and help clients make informed decisions about their homes.
Throughout my career, I have seen how quickly a small oversight can turn into wasted materials, lost time, additional expense, or a much larger repair. I have also seen homeowners abandon projects they were capable of completing simply because they did not have access to experienced guidance when they needed it.
That is why I created The Carpenter Coach.

The Carpenter Coach is built around a simple idea: homeowners should be able to get professional carpentry insight without having to hire a full crew just to answer a question, review a plan, or work through a problem. By combining real-world trade experience with phone, video, photo review, and local on-site support, the service creates a practical middle ground between doing everything alone and turning the entire project over to a contractor.
The Carpenter Coach gives homeowners, DIY builders, and newer contractors access to practical advice based on real-world experience. Through phone and video consultations, project-photo reviews, material and estimate reviews, project planning, live troubleshooting, and local on-site visits, I help clients better understand their projects before they begin—and work through challenges as they arise.
My goal is not to take the project away from you. It is to help you approach it with greater confidence, avoid preventable mistakes, and understand the best next step. I provide straightforward explanations, practical recommendations, and an honest opinion about what you can reasonably handle yourself and when it may be safer or more cost-effective to bring in an on-site professional.
After more than twenty years in the trade, I believe one of the most valuable things an experienced carpenter can offer is not simply labor, but judgment. Good advice at the right time can save hours of frustration, prevent costly rework, and help turn a challenging project into a successful one.
